Pre-Test Instructions for VNG Examination
To ensure a successful examination, it is crucial to provide the patient with the following instructions in advance:
- Dress comfortably.
- Avoid using mascara or excessive makeup around the eyes.
- Continue taking medications for heart conditions, diabetes, hypertension, and anticonvulsants.
- Refrain from consuming coffee, tea, cola, or any other caffeinated beverage within 24 hours of the test.
- Abstain from eating or smoking for at least 3 hours before the test.
Additionally, alcoholic beverages and the following medications should not be taken for a minimum of 48 hours prior to the test: antiemetics, antivertiginous drugs, antihistamines, aspirin, barbiturates, quinine, sedatives, tranquilizers, and stimulants.
During the administration of various tests, the patient should avoid chewing, moving the muscles of the forehead and cheeks, and tilting the head to prevent accidental displacements of the goggles relative to the eyes.
