SYNAPSYS VHIT is a unique system that represents a fundamental step forward in the evaluation of the vestibular system. It enables binocular analysis of all six semicircular canals and does not require the patient to wear any goggles: all results are obtained from the analysis of the patient's head and eye movements, recorded from a remote camera.

Featuring a camera positioned directly in front of the patient, SYNAPSYS VHIT eliminates any physical contact with the device during use. No manual calibration is required — advanced software automatically adjusts settings using a facial recognition system.

SYNAPSYS VHIT is the only system on the market that allows testing of children as young as 3 months of age. Tight-fitting masks are not tolerated by infants, and this remote camera system allows easy testing of newborns and children of all ages.

SEPARATE ANALYSIS OF EACH SEMICIRCULAR CANALS

With SYNAPSYS VHIT, investigating all 6 high-frequency semicircular canals, as well as analyzing the strategy of generating saccades — overt and covert — has never been easier and faster. The system enables binocular assessment of the lateral canals and vertical planes, including RALP and LARP, supporting a complete evaluation of vestibular function.
Thanks to video and audio prompts during the examination, the software guides the operator in executing the manoeuvres accurately. By detecting the direction of the patient’s head movements, the system automatically identifies the investigated plane, enabling the entire examination to be performed without moving away from the patient.

NON-INVASIVE TEST FOR THE PATIENT

The SYNAPSYS VHIT system uses a unique technology that makes it very easy to use: a camera is positioned 1 meter far from the patient and frames the face while the doctor performs the manoeuvres on the patient’s head.
Unlike other VHIT systems, SYNAPSYS VHIT does not require the patient to wear a mask, increasing comfort and reducing artifacts caused by involuntary mask movements. No manual calibration is required: the software automatically recognizes the patient’s face and eye region, supporting faster setup and more repeatable acquisition.

The SYNAPSYS VHIT test is simple and fast, taking less than 5 minutes, and offers valuable information on the functioning of the semicircular canals and on saccadic phenomena.
With high-speed acquisition up to 250 Hz, the system supports precise tracking of fast head and eye movements and provides immediate results for each canal during acquisition, including VOR gain, gain shift, PR Score, and overt and covert saccades.
