IMC protocol: Clinical Importance and Use
IMC (Inter Module Communication) allows direct communication between the hearing aid fitting software, which controls the hearing aid, and the Real Ear Measurement (REM) software, such as the Inventis Maestro which controls the Inventis Trumpet REM system, through the popular hearing care software Noah.
IMC direct communication is needed by hearing care professionals to perform the hearing aid fitting against a prescribed target by acquiring in-situ measurements automatically. Using IMC, the hearing aid fitting software controls the communication process with the REM device autonomously and gets the measured data directly from the REM software.
The first revision of the protocol was introduced in 1999 by HIMSA, and the current revision is IMC2.
Maestro software, which controls the Trumpet, already appears in the list of the modules which officially support the IMC protocol, on HIMSA website! Have a look!
Curious to know how does IMC2 flow work?
