Angela Bessa is a Brazilian physiotherapist specializing in vestibular rehabilitation, renowned for both her expertise and her engaging approach.
She holds a degree in Physiotherapy and has completed several advanced training programs in France, including a University Diploma in Vertigo and Balance Disorders from the University of Reims and another University Diploma in Vertigo from the University of Saint-Étienne. She also completed specialized training in vestibular rehabilitation in Paris under the supervision of Prof. Alain Semont and attended the courses of the GDR Marseille.
Through her book, she shares both her Brazilian and French perspectives, together with her extensive clinical experience, making the mechanisms of vertigo, the vestibular system, and balance easier to understand while placing the patient, active listening, and the rehabilitation journey at the center of care.
Her work reflects a deeply patient-centered approach, where science, clinical practice, and education come together to provide better support for people living with vestibular disorders in their daily lives.
This clinically focused webinar will explore recurrent vertigo and dizziness in children, which may have a migraine-related origin, but recognising vestibular migraine in paediatric patients is not always straightforward.

Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology Surgeon in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of Malaya (Malaysia).
She is a Lecturer and Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology Surgeon at the University of Malaya. She completed her postgraduate degree at the University Sains Malaysia and obtained Gold Medal. She has also been a Fellow of the European Board of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery since 2019. She completed an Observer Fellowship on Paediatric Audiovestibular at Alder Hey's Children's Hospital, Liverpool, United Kingdom. To date, she has over 140 peer-reviewed publications, including 40 research papers and she has reviewed over 200 publications. She is listed in the World's Top 2% Scientist by Stanford University in 2022. She is currently persuing her PhD research on Paediatric Vestibular and Balance. She has developed the first Paediatric Vestibular and Balance Clinic at the University of Malaya Medical Centre, which is also the first of its kind in the region.

El Dr. Francesco Pontoni es licenciado en Técnicas Audioprotésicas por la Universidad de Padua. Creador de Clarivox®, Francesco es especialista en audífonos en centros auditivos familiares. Coautor del libro «Non Sei Sordo», tutor de estudiantes universitarios y ponente en diversos cursos y conferencias, actualmente es miembro externo del Comité Científico de la ANAP para la redacción de las directrices para técnicos en audífonos.
El Instituto Acústico Pontoni fue fundado en 1989 por el instinto revolucionario de Roberto Pontoni. Cansado del carácter excesivamente comercial del sector, abrió su propio pequeño laboratorio en Monfalcone (GO). Inspirado por la innovación tecnológica, Roberto experimenta con nuevas técnicas de adaptación de audífonos y, en 2007, tras los primeros resultados, decide incorporar a sus primeros colaboradores al proyecto. Dr. Mikael Karlberg is an Associate Professor at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Lund University, Sweden, with over 35 years of experience. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of balance disorders and vertigo. Dr. Karlberg has authored over 60 articles in international scientific journals and co-authored the book "Det snurrar – Allt om yrsel och balanssjukdomar" (Bazar Förlag, 2023).
He is President of the Bárány Society and has served as the Scientific Secretary of the Swedish Society of Otorhinolaryngology. Dr. Karlberg is widely recognized for his contributions to research and clinical practice in vestibular disorders.

La masterclass è rivolta a medici otorinolaringoiatri, audiologi, tecnici audiometristi e audioprotesisti interessati all’utilizzo clinico dei potenziali evocati corticali e, in particolare, all’applicazione dell’Aided Cortical Assessment nella valutazione dell’accessibilità corticale al parlato e nel percorso di verifica del fitting protesico.
È particolarmente indicata per i professionisti coinvolti nella valutazione audiologica pediatrica, nel fitting e nel follow-up di pazienti nei quali la risposta comportamentale sia assente, poco affidabile o non sufficientemente informativa.
Nei pazienti che non sono in grado di fornire risposte comportamentali affidabili, metodiche oggettive come ABR e ASSR consentono di stimare la soglia uditiva e impostare il fitting protesico.
Rimane però una domanda clinica fondamentale: una volta applicata la protesi, il segnale amplificato raggiunge effettivamente la corteccia ed è rilevabile dal sistema uditivo del paziente?
A questa esigenza risponde HEARLab® ACA – Aided Cortical Assessment, un approccio sviluppato da National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL) e utilizzato da oltre dieci anni nella pratica clinica audiologica australiana, in particolare nel percorso protesico pediatrico.
ACA non è un test di soglia: attraverso specifici stimoli speech-like presentati in campo libero consente di ottenere un’informazione oggettiva sull’accessibilità corticale del parlato, in condizione aided o unaided, supportando la valutazione dell’adeguatezza del fitting e il processo decisionale clinico.
Partendo da MLR e LLR/CAEP, la masterclass guiderà il partecipante fino alla comprensione e all’utilizzo pratico di HEARLab® ACA con Celesta, il sistema clinico Inventis per l’acquisizione e l’analisi dei potenziali evocati uditivi e vestibolari, integrato nel software Maestro.
Ampio spazio sarà dedicato alla pratica, con particolare attenzione a set-up, acquisizione e interpretazione dei risultati, per comprendere quando utilizzare ACA, quale informazione fornisce e quali sono i suoi limiti.

Jacques Adrover is a physiotherapist specializing in vestibular rehabilitation, based in Toulon, France, where he dedicates his clinical practice to the assessment and treatment of balance disorders and vertigo.
He graduated in Physiotherapy in Marseille and holds a University Diploma in Balance Disorders from Claude Bernard University Lyon 1. Over the years, he has developed extensive expertise in vestibular rehabilitation, working in close collaboration with ENT specialists and neurologists.
A regular speaker at webinars and continuing education events, he shares his clinical experience to promote a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach to the management of vertigo, integrating diagnosis, rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up.
Dr. Stavros Hatzopoulos has been a faculty member of the Audiology & ENT Clinic at the University of Ferrara, Italy, since 1994. His background is in Biomedical Engineering and Hearing Science (BS from the University of Southern California, MSc from Texas A&M University, and PhD from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts). He received his habilitation as an associate professor in 2014. He is the author of more than 245 book chapters, peer-reviewed papers, and conference presentations. He has participated in numerous European Concerted Action projects in the fields of Otoacoustic Emissions, Genetics, and Nanotechnologies. His main areas of interest are clinical Auditory Electrophysiology, Teleaudiology, and Long-Distance Learning. Currently, he serves as the editor of the Portal on Otoacoustic Emissions and as the Managing Editor of the Hearing, Balance & Communication journal.

El Dr. Borghi obtuvo el título en Técnicas Audioprotésicas en 2004 en la Universidad de Parma.
Desde 2005 trabaja en Amplifon en Reggio Emilia, donde gestiona dos centros.
Entre 2008 y 2010 completó el Máster en Rehabilitación Audioprotésica de la sordera infantil, organizado conjuntamente por la Universidad de Padua y la Universidad de Módena y Reggio Emilia.
Desde 2013 es docente en segundo y tercer año del Grado en Técnicas Audioprotésicas en la Universidad de Parma, y desde 2022 es docente en segundo año del Grado en Técnicas Audiométricas en la Universidad de Padua, sede de Venecia.
Formó parte del panel de expertos que publicó las nuevas guías sobre implantes cocleares en 2024 y del grupo de audioprotesistas que elaboró las guías de la profesión en 2022.
Ha sido responsable científico de diversos cursos y, desde 2023, es cofundador junto con el profesor Scimemi del “Laboratorio Práctico en Técnicas Audioprotésicas Scimemi-Borghi” y de la “ficha audioprotésica pediátrica”, publicada en 2023.
Pietro Scimemi is a physician and surgeon, a specialist in audiology and phoniatrics, and an associate professor of Audiology and Phoniatrics at the University of Padua. He teaches Audiology in the bachelor’s degree programs in Audiometric Techniques and Hearing Aid Fitting Techniques at the university’s School of Medicine. His clinical work, carried out at the Audiology and Otoneurology Unit (UOSD) of the Venice Civil Hospital, and his research focus specifically on the diagnosis and prosthetic-rehabilitative treatment of hearing loss in children and the elderly. He is also a lecturer in numerous training and continuing education courses for medical specialists in audiology, phoniatrics, and otolaryngology, as well as for hearing aid specialists, audiometric technicians, and speech-language pathologists.
